Penryn iMac and Mac Mini updates soon?

Macscoop reported that apple is to start shipping the 45nm Penryn chip in the iMac and the Mac Mini. They also speculated that the Mac Mini will be upgraded to the GMA3100 graphics chipset which is currently used in the latest Macbook's. Even thought they also reported that Apple is trying to make the iMac even thinner, this update is likely not to be cosmetic.

What does a Penryn upgrade get you, that the current chip doesn't? Is it mostly that Intel is pushing everyone to the Penryn chip?

I'm wondering if it's worth waiting for.

I've read that power consumption and heat generation are improved - anything else?

Yeah the Penryn upgrade wont get you a whole lot thats different from the older chipset besides heat management and power consumption. In my mind it isn't worth waiting for if you need a new computer soon. But what is worth waiting for is the next generation of intel chips after Penryn those are supposedly going to be revolutionary.

The diffence between the current mac mini and the new one with Penryn might be a big deal if it has the same specs as the current Macbooks but you wont notice much with the iMac.
